I had been meaning to try this eye base ever since Daisymayrobin and I had our makeovers at the Trish counter. I finally got on the stick and bought some at Nordstrom a few weeks ago.
I chose “Bare” because I thought it would be something different than all the champagne shimmer eyeshadow that I already own.
The eye base comes in a glass tube with a doe foot applicator. (I think that’s what they’re called – it’s an applicator like you’d find in a lip gloss.) The handle of the applicator is silver and the font on the tube is refined and understated. The overall packaging is classy and makes you feel like you’re using high end product.
How does it work, you ask? Well, I swipe off some product onto a brush and apply it that way. The color matches my skin quite well, so it’s very fair. It has the consistency of thick concealer – not quite like stick concealer, but definitely thicker than liquid concealer or foundation. It’s on the dry side, so I make sure to have freshly applied eye cream before I put on the eye base. It blends pretty well on my lids and does a good job at covering up the veins and purplish color of my eye area. It helps to keep my eye make-up true and opaque when I apply it over the base. I have tried it under my eyes, too, just for fun, and it goes on a little clumpy and dry for that. But I guess it’s not really meant to be an under eye concealer.
Would I buy it again? I don’t think so. It’s $24 and I find it to be just so-so. There are other cheaper eye primers or concealers that you can use as eye primer, so this is not an HG product for me.
