Brusha Brusha

I got a catalog from Nordstrom in the mail last week and it showcased all the Anniversary sale deals. Flipping through it, I scanned over all the boots, purses and other accessories that I'd like to have, but, uh, don't really need to have. I thought I was home free until...I got to the make-up section. Hmmm, a few Smashbox sets, some Bobbi Brown palettes, and then I saw these MAC brushes!

Now, you might think I don't really need any more make-up brushes. Well, recently, I decided that my Bare Escentuals face brush is kind of scratchy. I also don't have a flat eyeliner brush and my concealer brushes are a wee bit stiff. But, the Shape and Perfect brush set has a fluffy skunk brush, a flat eyeliner brush AND a small concealer brush! Plus two more brushes that would be a great addition to my brush collection.

I did a bit of research online and saw that the 187 brush retails for $42 - just for that one brush! The set that Nordstrom has is $49.50 - for FIVE brushes! Now granted, the handles are travel size, so they are a little shorter than what you'd get if you bought the brushes separately. Some people might not like that, but I prefer a shorter handle, so that was a selling point for me. Then I checked the MAC website and saw a similar set for $125! That pushed me over the edge.

So, I sashayed over to Nordstrom on Friday morning - the day the sale started. The parking lot was already packed at 10am! When I went inside, it was like locusts had descended on a corn field. People were swarming around the shoe section and the make-up area was also very congested. But I zipped in, got my set and scurried out to my car. (Ok, I did take a stroll through the shoe department, but I have so many pairs of boots that I have already displaced a couple pairs of Aaron's shoes in the hall closet. And, yes, my closet is packed, too. So I'm cut off until I can figure out another storage location. Maybe the trunk of my car?)

As you might imagine, I am just smitten with the brushes! The 187 and the 194 are my favorites so far. I am also really enjoying that the numbers aren't worn off the handles. They look shiny and new! They've been touched for the very first time!

There is also the Define and Blend set if that yanks your chain. There were a lot of both sets on Friday, but judging by the volume of shoppers, they won't last long!
