Do You Fake It?

And by fake it, I mean, do you fake tan? (I don't want to hear about the other type of faking it! La la la la - hands over ears.) I was reading Beauty Addict the other day and she and her readers were talking about faux tans and which products are best.

While I love beauty products in general, I'm not a big connossieur of self tanners. Oh, sure, I tried the Coppertone self tanner in 1986 (didn't we all?) and ended up looking like a carrot. Then, in the recent past, I tried Jergen's Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer (the one for fair skins tones, of course), but it smelled so horrible, that I had to stop.

Other than that, I use Bare Minerals Warmth (which is brown, kind of like a bronzer) over the top of my nose and over my cheeks, but it just adds a bit of color to my face and it's not something that you're supposed to use all over your body.

I've been tempted to try a Mystic Tan, but I can't seem to get it together to go do it. (I'm also afraid they might turn it up to 11 and I'd end up looking like Ross on that Friends episode where he didn't count the seconds right and turned as brown as my coffee table.)

So, what do you think? Should pale people stay pale and embrace their pasty whiteness? Or should we be exfoliating like mofos and then rubbing on self tanner to beat the band?

I struggle with this topic every freakin' year when spring rolls around. It's more my pasty white legs and arms I don't like when the weather gets warmer.

As far as my face goes, I was turned onto Cargo's "Sun Kissed" Bronzer at the U-Village Sephora a couple weeks ago. Use a big powder brush, brush some on your cheeks, and you look like you got a hint of sun!

I hear ya, sister! I wore shorts to the grocery store the other day and it was a blinding affair, let me tell you.

The problem that I have with self tanner is the smell and also the labor intensiveness of applying it all over my body (it's so hard to reach my back) on a regular basis.

I like a bit of bronzer on the face, though! It gives a nice healthy look.
