Since we started thinking about getting a kitty, I have been addicted to Petfinder. Petfinder lists animals that are up for adoption at various locations around North America. You just set up a search using parameters such as type of animal and your zip code, and bam, you've got a list of cats, reptiles or rabbits that are looking for their "forever home". You can even narrow the search further by doing an advanced search for type of breed, adoption location (like PAWS or the Seattle Animal Shelter) or specifics like "only declawed" pets. (I'm thinking of cats here, because I don't think you can declaw anything else.)Each pet that is listed has a brief description about their appearance, age and demeanor. Some of the descriptions are cutesy wootsy (like they'll be written as if the animal wrote it himself), and some are very straightforward.
My favorite cat so far is Wendell. He sounds like he's sweet and friendly and Aaron likes a tuxedo coat cat. I hope Wendell is still available when we're ready to adopt a cat!

He's pretty darn cute! Do you think they'll bring him to Woodinville? Or, will you have a romantic kitty weekend getaway to Whidbey Island?
I know! Isn't he adorable? I think we'd probably do a day trip to Whidbey and just take the ferry over from Mukilteo. I love the south end of Whidbey, so it would be neat to work in a side trip to Langley, too!
I Adore the declawed rule! I know it seems cruel, but other than my main issue with being allergic my second issue with cats would be al the lovely vintage furniture that has been ruined by some cat's claws.
He looks very cute!
Thanks, Sylvia! We are definitely looking for a declawed cat for that very reason. I thought that by rescuing a cat that is already declawed, it would be good for us and for the cat, because we want an inside cat anyway. It's a win-win. :-)
