Did anyone catch Oprah on Tuesday? Trinny and Susannah (aka - The What Not To Wear Girls) were making people over so that they looked at least ten pounds slimmer. I'm a sucker for makeover shows, so I tuned in.I especially like Trinny and Susannah's take on looking better, because they don't advocate plastic surgery, dieting or even exercise. They're all about body shapers and clothes that drape or skim instead of clinging. That's what I'm talking about. (But was it just me, or did Susannah look A LOT skinnier than she used to?)
So, they found about seven women that were committing major fashion faux pas, rounded them up and made them over. They all looked fabulous and much happier as Oprah and the audience showered them with compliments after their looks were updated.
But what I wonder is what happens when these ladies leave the show. I mean, one woman hadn't cut her hair in fifteen years before Susannah snatched her off the street and loaded her into her jaunty British cab! She had hair like a horse tail! Is she suddenly going to be zooming over to the salon every eight weeks for a trim and every ten weeks for a color touch up and then over to Nordstrom to stock up on her Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer?
The other thing I wonder is, who helps them with the rest of their wardrobe? They supposedly had to throw away their crop pants, denim jumpers and baggy sweaters, so what's left besides the lovely dress that was picked for them for the show? Also, can they style their new hairstyle the same way the stylist did it for them and artfully apply their new make-up look?
I'd really love to see a follow up show about six months down the road to truly see the "after" look.
Oprah, are you listening?
And P.S., I would also like to see if they would ever take a somewhat stylish woman to make over so that we could see what improvements could be made to someone that doesn't look like they just time travelled from 1989.
