I have been wanting to try LipFusion lip plumper since I first saw it at Sephora, but at $36 (and $38 for the colored glosses), it seemed a like a would-be-nice-to-have, but not a must-have make-up product. So, in the meantime, I tried Lip Venom (which was hurty, but plumped pretty well) and Bare Escentuals Buxom Lips in Amber (which has a Carmex tingle and plumps only a little bit, but leaves a pretty shine). So, when I was at Costco yesterday with my Mom and saw a two pack of clear LipFusion for $39.99, I had to have it! My Mom and I split it, so it was an excellent deal.
Upon arrival back at her house, I cut into the plastic packaging with scissors (why does Costco have to put everything in those impossible packages?) and freed my lip gloss from its box.
I'm a sucker for presentation, and I really like the square tube that LipFusion comes in. I also like the wand applicator and the silver top. The gloss itself looks white in the container, but goes on clear. It smells like a mixture of Fruit Stripe gum and a piƱa colada. In all honesty, the scent is not my favorite. The consistency of the gloss is thick and tacky, which I like, because you can really feel it on your lips. It doesn't just disappear in two seconds like Vaseline.
Now, onto the plumping factor. The lip plumping feeling is not tingly or burny, but it does give a numbing sensation. It kind of feels like the beginning of a shot of novacaine, but way less intense. And it did plump a little bit, but, alas, I still did not achieve an Angelina Jolie pout.
So, at the end of the day, would I buy LipFusion again? The answer is no. (But it's not so horrible that I can't finish off the tube.) However, if you want to try it for a good price, Costco is the place to buy it.
