Did You Get A Haircut?

As one who has changed her hair a lot over the years, I know not everyone else is as attuned to hair as I am. Some people never change their hair and look great and some people stick with the same hairstyle forever and well, look not so great. Be that as it may, the thing that never ceases to amaze me is the reactions you get when you cut your hair.

As you may know, I just got a haircut. It went from shoulder length to pretty damn short. I like it a lot and feel light and sprightly with my new 'do. However, what boggles my mind is the people that don't say anything after you appear with a new and different style. Do they hate it? Are they oblivious? (I cut off about five inches, man! How could it not be noticeable?) Am I self centered to think that everyone should comment on my hair? Probably.

The other people that I can't figure out are the ones that say, "Hey, did you get a haircut?" I say, "Yep, sure did!" They nod and don't say anything. I think if you're going to notice someone's hair, you should at least say something nice, like, "Looks great," or, "It suits you," or else you're going to give the person a complex.

The best people, of course, are the ones that give gushing compliments and make you feel like you made the right choice. Because, after all, we all want to feel like we didn't just screw the pooch, right? I mean, you can't tape that shit back on. (I guess you could get a weave or some extensions, but I'll leave that for Britney and Jessica.)

All in all, I'm getting used to the shorter hair. I have reservations from time to time, as with anything new. But I forget all my worries when I walk outside, lips coated in MAC Lipglass, and not a single hair sticks to my lipgloss. It's simply delightful.

One thing I've discovered is because I change the length and color of my hair so often, I think the people in my life (friends & co-workers) might get sick of always remarking on every change I make.

I agree when there are no remarks (good OR bad), I get a little worried that I made a bad choice. But, if I feel good about it, and my husband thinks I look great, I let the rest of it roll off my shoulders. You know, like the 5" of cut hair did. HaHa.

Anyhoo, I saw your myspace photos, and I think your new hair looks super cute! : )

Thank you! You know how it is, though, when you have that twinge of doubt. Overall, I'm happy with it. But I did forget how freaky short hair can look in the morning! Yikes!
