Kebab House

On Saturday afternoon, Aaron and I were starving, but in the mood for something new and exciting. So we decided to walk up Greenwood Ave. and see where it led us. I wanted to check out Mr. Gyro for, you guessed it, a gyro. But sadly, they close at 3pm on Saturday. Our travels ended at the Kebab House. They serve Indian and Pakistani food and I had been curious to try them out. I thought it might be one of those cool hole-in-the-wall places that you tell all your friends about.

The decor at Kebab House is plain, with no pictures on the wall. The only decoration was a colorful placemat under the glass table topper on our table. Our server was about twelve, very timid and acted like she was charged by the word to talk to us. (And would it have killed her to smile?) Aaron and I were both famished, so we ordered large plates. I got the Chicken Tikka Masala and Aaron got the Halibut Fish Masala. We also requested an order of Naan and some Raita. I asked that my dish be mild to medium on the spice scale. Much to my chagrin, it was so spicy hot that I could barely eat it. I sent it back (I was polite, don't worry) and our server didn't know what to do. She just looked at me with a pained expression and didn't say anything for a while. She finally took my plate, excused herself and disappeared behind the curtain to the kitchen. She returned a few minutes later. All they did was add a bunch of cream to the sauce on my plate, but it was the SAME plate. (I'm just hoping they didn't spit in it.) Aaron thought his dish was just ok. We never saw the Raita and the Naan was charred on one side.

If you want Indian food, make the drive over to the U-district to Taste of India or Cedar's. Kabab House was a disappointment. Kittykat is not impressed.
