Valentine's Day is right around the corner! Do you celebrate this day of chocolate and roses? I have gone back and forth over the years. When I was single, I hated Valentine's Day. For people without a significant other, it's just a reminder that you are alone and everyone else is out eating chocolate shaped like hearts, gazing into each other's eyes and calling each other "Schmoopy". While the single person, on the other hand, is left to drink copius amounts of alcohol with other single friends and then go home alone and eat Necco conversation hearts until they throw up. (What are those made out of, anyway? Pressed Pepsodent toothpaste? Only the yellow ones are edible.)
Now, however, I'm not single. And for that, I am grateful and somewhat less bitter overall. So, for this Valentine's Day, Aaron and I are driving up to Snoqualmie Falls to hike around, take pictures and then go out somewhere for lunch in the vicinity. I would also like to check out
that restaurant in North Bend that was in "Twin Peaks".

I am a sucker for baked goods and cherry pie is one of my favorites! Mmmm. (She's my Cherry Pie! Great! Now that horrid song by Warrant is stuck in my head! Thanks a lot, Janie Lane.)
So, do we need a holiday to celebrate love? Probably not. But, I do like to get out of town and I love sweets, so if a holiday about hearts gets us out the door to go somewhere and eat dessert, then I'll take it. Happy Valentine's Day!
