How often do you wash your hair? I'm usually an every other day shampoo-er. However, my hairstylist (and hairstylists before her) are always encouraging me to wash my hair every three days. The natural oils are supposed to be so hydrating, not using using a hairdryer for a few days is great, yadda, yadda.
So, for the past few months, I've been stretching it out. It's been nice because not washing and blowdrying saves a lot of time, so I can sleep in later in the morning. But by the third day, the oily buildup at the roots usually results in my having to spray my roots with a ton of hairspray, tease out the crown and brush it down into a low ponytail. Any other style on the third day just looks flat and sad.
Meanwhile, I'm in the process of letting my hair grow out. I want it to be long and lustrous, like Brook Shields in those dumb VW Routan commercials. The ads annoy me to no end, but how I covet her shiny hair, so full of body. So, what's the problem? Well, long and dirty hair just seems kind of gross. You know? My hair is now long enough to touch my face and my scalp itches and I'm not very good at ratting up the crown for that trendy little hair bump and I just want to wash my freakin' hair!
So, I have given up. I am back to washing my hair every other day.
It takes more time in the morning to do all the blowdrying/flatironing and crap, but it's worth it and is keeping me from wanting to hack off all my hair. And best of all, now I feel pretty, oh, so pretty! And less like a homeless person.

i wash my hair once every 3-5 days. my hair is naturally curly so in turn it's naturally dry. but i do blowdry and flat iron. luckily it takes at least 3 days for me to see and kind of oils at my roots. but there are a lot of powdered products out there for about 10 dollars each that will absorb the oils and make your hair look clean. if you cant find any you can always use baby powder, i've done it before and it's actually awesome. another thing, there is shampoo you can buy at any local drug store called mane and tail. it's safe for humans but used on horses. it doesnt have the fruitest most delicious smell but it does help thicken your hair and makes it grow, FAST! i think its about 10 bucks for both the shampoo and conditioner and the bottles are big. big enough for a horse! haha. alsoooo, taking a vitamin e tablet once a day or even every other day will help your hair, eyelashes, fingernails, and skin. it's basically beauty in pill form.
