I have needs

As much as I love shopping, there are some things that I need that I am having trouble motivating myself to actually buy. There are just certain items that are simply not that fun to shop for. So, since I love lists, here is a list of things that I am hoping to find the energy to actually go out and purchase...someday.

1. Tennis shoes - sneakers, running shoes - call them what you will, I can't seem to find a pair that I like. I keep buying them and returning them and then I have bought two pairs, thought they were ok and then worn them, only to find that they're not that comfortable. Then I go back to my crappy old Nikes and wonder why my knees hurt. I need some help, people! I think I need to go to a specialty store and get some assistance from someone versed in the different fits of athletic shoes. But, I just don't wanna.

2. A neutral colored fleece jacket.I need a cozy office jacket to leave at work for those days when it feels a little nippy. I have an old aqua colored fleece that I put on when it's chilly, but it really doesn't match anything. It's warm, though, so I keep putting it on and telling myself, "Jesus, you shop every frickin' weekend - why can't you just shell out $20 or something on a cheap fleece from Fred Meyer?" Then, I say, "Jeez, you don't have to be so snotty about it. I'll buy a damn fleece, just stop being so mean to me." Then the men in white coats come and cart me away to the schizophrenic ward in the nuthouse.

3. Shapewear. I need a Sassybax bra or something to make my back smooth under form fitting tops. I need some type of Spanx shorts or something to wear under form fitting dresses. Have I managed to buy either one? Nope. They're soooooo tight and uncomfortable. But I know I need them. Next time I go shopping. I promise. I'll buy some shapewear. Pinkie swear.

4. Comfort shoes. I have been looking for comfy, black or brown winter shoes for years and years. I never find them. I find ones that are kind of comfortable, but they tend not to be super stylish, of course, and then I don't want them. I'm thinking of buying some Merrill clogs like the ones my Mom has. You know, just to wear to work. But, they're so blocky...so I haven't been able to bring myself to buy any. Yet. But I probably will soon. Really soon.

5. A replica of my wedding ring, but in yellow gold. I know, this seems a bit odd. But when I wear gold jewelry (which is sometimes), I want my wedding ring to match and my wedding ring is white gold. I think this is a fabulous idea, but I can't make that first step to pick a jeweler, go to the jeweler and shell out the coin to have it done. Maybe for our next anniversary...

In the meantime, I'll just pop over to Target's website and look at the Anya Hindmarch handbags.

Oooooh, patent leather!

Dare I say it........ don't buy any of it! An adorable cardigan or cashmere wrap could easily replace fleece. And there are comfortable little flats out there to substitute for clogs.

Well, I guess shapewear and athletic shoes are needed for formfitting dresses and working out, so you may need those.

My goal is to never wear vortex or any of that "Northwest" gear people are so fond of. I must admit, though, I had a hard time finding an outfit to wear to the Seahawks game a couple weeks ago... I just don't own that kind of clothing!

Well, considering my track record thus far - I probably won't get around to buying any of those items! I used the money that I had earmarked for tennis shoes for a new bag from Laura Bee!!! :-)

i agree--fleece and clogs are no-no's. go for something everyday that isn't too practical. i'm no style-maven, but i did realize it takes no extra effort to throw on a cute wrap or cardigan than it does fleece. same for everyday shoes.

i also hate that "nw gear" style. although i did find a really cute north face jacket once. i put it back.

all that being said, i'm guilty of buying crocs to have for house/garden shoes.

I know! You guys are both right! I think I'm going to search for some low-heeled black boots for winter instead of clogs. I think I'll still get the fleece, though, because it's good for when I go on walks or when I'm coming out of the gym. But I think I can upgrade to an office sweater/cardigan. In fact, now that I think of it, I have grey wool cardigan that would be perfect for that!

First of all - glad to hear some cute boots are being considered for a clog replacement.

Secondly - both you, KittyKat, and you P'toxy - are both style mavens!

Daisymayrobin - you're too kind!
:-) And you are definitely a style maven also!
