Pearlglide

Last week, I read a bunch of postive reviews of MAC pearlglide eyeliner on Makeup Alley. People were raving about a color called "Wolf" and going on about how smoothly the liner goes on and how it's pearly, but not overly glittery.

Intrigued, I made a pit stop the MAC counter at Norstrom. I checked out both Wolf and some of the other color offerings. Wolf is a silvery tone with a hint of sparkle. It was pretty, but I have a couple of silver eyeshadows that I rarely wear. So I investigated a color called Spare Change.

It is a bronzey copper with just a little shimmer. It reminds me of this Revlon powder pencil that I had in high school that I loved, but I think they stopped making it. The liner just slips on without any tugging and leaves a soft, yet opaque color in its wake.

On the downside, I noticed that it did sprinkle a couple tiny black flecks under my eyes, though. (Perhaps these are the "shimmer particles" that one Makeup Alley poster mentioned.) I checked to make sure that it wasn't my mascara by wearing the same mascara the next day, but no eyeliner. No eyeliner equaled no flecks. So, that is kind of annoying. The flecks do brush away with a facepowder brush.

Overall, it's a nice product and I especially like the way I can apply the Pearlglide liner to my lower lash line and then smudge it, which I find tricky to do with a brush and eyeshadow or a harder eyeliner. So it's a keeper (but maybe not something I would purchase again.)

But, quick question - does't the name pearlglide remind you of tampons? Oh, it's just me? Fair enough.

Actually, tampons were the first thing I thought of when I read pearlglide!

Ha! That's funny! Glad I'm not the only one to think that. :-)
