Pizza Pie

You know when you're at the grocery store and you have a cart full of groceries, but you still have no idea what to have for dinner? Aaron and I had that quandry last night. We were at Safeway at about 6:30pm and just as we parked by the dairy aisle to grab the last few items (eggs, cottage cheese and a side trip to the bread aisle for English muffins), Aaron asked, "What are we going to have for dinner?"

It was a fair question. I looked at the cart's contents: radishes, milk, eggs, cereal, breakfast bars...and a bunch of other items that are good for packed lunches or a quick breakfast. Uh. Well, how about a bowl of cereal with a radish garnish?

Aaron suggested pizza, so we traipsed back to the frozen food aisle. I hate most frozen pizzas and after reading the labels on a few, I saw that they're filled with hydrogenated oils. And after seeing Dr. Oz on Oprah, I've been trying to avoid those. But then, like a beacon of hope and light, we saw a box of Amy's Margherita pizza. The clouds parted and angels played tiny horns.

We bought it, scurried home, and I put some black olives on my half of the pizza and Aaron added faux pepperoni to his. The pizza baked up nicely and the kitchen smelled like someone was really in there cooking. It was ready in about 15 minutes or so and it tasted fantastic (and it didn't contain any hydrogenated oils or high fructose corn syrup!). The crust was even crunchy and not like soggy cardboard!

At $6.99 a pop, Amy's pizza isn't the cheapest deal, but I'm willing to pay a little more because it's the best frozen pizza that I've ever had.

The worst thing about frozen pizza is that the sauce gets super heated and I don't wait for it to cool down and I always burn the roof of my mouth.

I do that, too! The worst pizzas for that are the ones that have a ton of cheese on them. It's like biting into molten lava. Hot pockets are dangerous that way, too.

Hell yeah, Freschetta's 4 cheese za is one of the main offenders. That smarts just thinking about it.

I am a sucker for Totinos party pizzas. I don't know why, but I love them.

Oh, man! I haven't had a Totino's pizza in a long time - they have good crusts - nice and thin!
