Recycled Style

Anyone who knows me, knows that I love bags. While vintage, knock-offs, and thrift store bags are my favorite, I thought it would interesting to see what's out there in the way of recycled material bags. Guess what, fellow handbag afcianados, there are tons!

Let's start with a big bag. Freitag makes a variety of bags out of old truck tarps. (In Europe, the trucks have heavy tarps that cover their semis, instead of hard sided container trucks, like we have.) The first time I saw a Freitag bag was when one of Aaron's co-workers was sporting one at an after work drinks occasion. They're very sporty and hipster-ish - good for more casual outfits.

Freitag bag fans might also like these bags that are made from recycled billboard art. Again, very utilitarian and industrial.

Looking for something more whimsical? Check out these purses made of recylced juice boxes! If you want your recycled juice box purse from across the pond, then peruse these British beauties. You like sweets? Here are some sweet candy wrapper purses (oh yes, pun intended) and also a very sleek shoulder bag made of pop can pull tabs.

Let us not forget wallets - how about a wallet made of paint chips? Or a super stylish coin purse made of magazine clippings to keep track of all that loose change?

And if you're not into purses (perish the thought!), here's a great link to a collection of other cool recycled items. So get to shopping - it's good for the environment!
