We went to Tuuli on Sunday in search of Marimekko fabric. It's right up the street from the Lusty Lady, so after you buy some fabric and a few coasters, you can enjoy some adult entertainment. (I actually ended up there on my 23rd birthday - yes, there were copius amounts of alcohol involved - and inside it's just like Madonna's "Open Your Heart" video.)Anyway, Tuuli is such an awesome store! Not only do they carry a variety of the Marimekko fabrics, but they also have tons of cute little things for your home! They have clothing and assessories, too, but I had to focus on the task at hand, so we set to work and chose this fabric:
Marimekko Unikko Black. We put it on 32 inch by 52 inch stretcher bars that we got at an art store in the U-district. Then we just stapled the fabric to the stretcher bars "and Bob's your uncle", as the Brits say. (Ok, it was slightly more challenging than that, but definitely worth it.) See photo above!
So, next time you're in downtown Seattle, stop by Tuuli. (And maybe the Lusty Lady, if you're so inclined. I won't tell.)
