Stereo Lab

We inherited a console style stereo from my grandparents. It's a dark walnut and is a very beautiful piece of furniture. My grandma always had it in their living room for as long as I can remember. Since we got it, we've been using it as a buffet/side table. It used to actually play records, but it broke long ago.

Aaron tried to have it fixed at Second Hand Hube on Phinney Ridge, but the repairman said it wasn't worth fixing. We were sad, but decided to just wire it to the main stereo in the office and use it as auxilliary speakers...until last weekend when Aaron surprised me with special small-sized components that would fit inside the console! Happy day! (He assured me that even though the components were small, they were still of the highest quality. As if I ever doubted that!)

After a quick trip to Fred Meyer for screws and some brackets, we were ready to go. Then it was out with the old record player and speakers, and in with the new ones. (This procedure actually took about seven hours, but with the magic of my blog, you can view the finished product here in mere seconds - see photo above.) It will now play records, the radio and the iPod. So I can rock the house in the dining room, living room or kitchen! My grandparents would be proud. I'll have to listen to some Herb Albert and his Tiajuana brass in their memory. (We found their copy of "Whipped Cream and Other Delights" wedged inside the stereo.)
