I've never been to the Gorge, so I think it would be kind of cool to go there for the Sasquatch music festival this Memorial Day weekend. We almost went to the Gorge last year to see the Cure and the Rapture and a bunch of other bands, but Robert Smith had a family emergency and had to reschedule. (We saw the Cure later at the Everett Events Center instead, which was a good show, but not as cool as the Gorge.) The troubling question is, which day to go? If you check out the line-ups, they get you by spreading out all the good bands to different days. So many bands, so little time. Death Cab, the Flaming Lips, Beck, Sufjan Stevens, Niko Case...just to name a few! (But alas, no Pantera. Damn! That's who my brother went to see at the Gorge.) I'd like to go to all three days, but that's $165 just for the tickets and then there's accommodation on top of that. (And, no Mr. REI, I'm not going to camp, so I have to pay for a motel. Seriously. Can you plug a hairdryer into a tree? No? I didn't think so.)
I don't know if we'll actually get organized enough to go. But if we do, it will be hot as hell, so I'll be the one coated in zinc oxide and wearing a caftan like Chevy Chase in "Fletch".
