Do Fish Sleep?

The other day, Aaron called to me from our office where he was napping and asked, "Do fish sleep?" Good question. I wasn't sure. Does a bear shit in the woods? Do chicken have lips? Does the Pope smoke dope? Anyway, I digress.

I did a little research and found that fish do indeed sleep, though not like people, because they don't have eyelids. Tough break for fish. My eyelids are thin and let in a lot of light even when they're closed, so fish must have to wear little fish sized sleep masks. It appears that fish "engage in an energy saving state that can be called 'rest'". Another one of life's great mysteries solved.

That's our little science lesson for today. Now you can get back to shopping online for lipgloss and reading about Brangelina's pregnancy.
