We went to Nectar in Fremont last night for a going away party for one of Aaron's co-workers. I had been curious to check it out for a while, but have been leary because Fremont often thas this strange hippy/frat boy mix going on. As it turns out, my suspicions were correct...
Nectar has indoor seating, an outdoor patio seating area (where you can smoke - otherwise it's all non-smoking) and a stage for live music. When we walked in, we were accosted by the plunky sounds of reggae and the pungent stink of patchouli. I hate reggae. It makes me want to jam forks into my ears. And patchouli smells like compost.
The reggae band played for about 30 minutes, but thankfully we avoided cover by accidentally coming in through the wrong door. I found out that cover was $7, so I was grateful we dodged it.
Nectar has mixed drinks and beer, so we got bottles of PBR for $2.75 each. They have food, too, which looked good. However, their happy hour only runs from 3pm - 7pm, so we were too late.
I guess they have happy hour every day, but I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon. After the band stopped playing, a dj started spinning reggae records, much to my chagrin. By this point, it was late enough for us to feel that we'd made an appearance. So we said our goodbyes and high-tailed it out of there, the sounds of Bob Marley's imitators trailing after us.
