Maybe we should have a wedding cake shaped like a gnome? No? I know, it's a little too nerdy. I just thought it was amusing that such a thing exists.
Anyhoo, we have finally picked a wedding venue. We're going with Fort Worden up in Port Townsend. I'm relieved to have chosen a spot, however, they're still haven't confirmed the reservation! I'm freaking out over here! I'm trying not to be a nag, but it's hard. I sent a "just checking in" email this morning and tried to make it sound light, even though I'm waiting with baited breath for them to say that September 2, 2006, is going to work.
I have had better luck with the caterer. Fort Worden has a preferred caterer and they've sent a bunch of menus and packages to choose from. If you go with the buffet dinner package, you get a free champagne toast, a cake and linens. I think that sounds like a great deal! The cake is made by a local bakery in Port Townsend called Sweet Laurette and Cindy's. I've never been there, so maybe a trip to their bakery is in order. I think tasting cake sounds like a lot more fun than trying on wedding dresses. Ugh.
I'm going wedding dress shopping with my mom on Monday. I'm hoping to find something that doesn't make my arms look fat and won't remind people of the fairy godmother in Cinderella. I went to a wedding a couple weeks ago, and I swear, the bride looked just like the tooth fairy. All she needed was a magic wand. Meow, I know that sounds catty. She looked pretty, but I'm not a tulle girl. Sue me.
