A couple months ago, I embarked on a boot search. It was the end of the winter season, so most stores already had a lot of summer sandals and flip flops in stock. I wanted some flat, black leather boots to wear with my jeggings and skinny jeans. (Yeah, I'm totally on the jeggings bandwagon. They're so frickin' comfy! So stretchy and soft. I may even get some pajamajeans. Heh heh.)
I looked everywhere! I was willing to drop up to $200 (but, full disclosure, I really preferred to pay much less). I tried Nordstrom, Macy's, Marshall's, Zappos, Ross, Clark's and Target. No luck. Oh, sure, they all had some boots, but they either didn't have my size, the style I wanted or when I tried them on, they just looked stupid.
I had pretty much given up, when I stumbled on some black, flat, motorcycle style boots at...the Goodwill! I couldn't believe it. I saw that they were a size 10, which is bigger than I usually wear. But I thought that I might be able to make them work with thick socks, so I bought them.
They were $25 and like new, because they are originally from Target, and I'm pretty sure Target donates new stuff to the Goodwill.
And did they work out? I know the suspense is killing you...
So, good news! After a bit of break-in time, they are perfect! I just wear really thick wool men's socks that I got at Costco. And I am happy to report that these are my favorite boots right now. A girl at Nordstrom even asked me where I got them.
Also, since the weather is always kind of iffy around here, I'm sure I'll be able to wear my lovely new boots on and off throughout the summer.
