After our relaxing weekend on the Oregon Coast, Aaron and I beetled over to Portland for one night at the Kennedy School. OMG, I want to live at the Kennedy School. It. Is. The. Bomb!!! Do people still call things the bomb? I remember things being the bomb in college, but maybe not as much now? Is it more about things being bananas now?
At any rate, we pulled into the free parking lot (no worries about pay parking or finding a spot!) and checked in. Our room had the most gorgeous classroom windows!
And over the windows? You guessed it - blackout curtains!!! I was in heaven. And outside the windows? Beautiful oak trees. They reminded me of the trees outside the 3rd floor west windows at the library at Western (No, not Western State, smarty pants - Western the university). So peaceful.
Our room was decorated with an old-timey whimsy, complete with nursery rhymes stenciled on the wall
and TWO chalkboards!
There were also about five bars/restaurants, a movie theatre, and a soaking pool! It was all so cute that I could barely stand it.
We had dinner in the Courtyard Restaurant and then had drinks in the Cypress Room and the Boiler Room.
We were going to go to the Detention Bar and the Honor Bar, but they closed early. Rats!
They did a wonderful job of maintaining the elementary school feel of the building. The floors were a beautiful hardwood, there were old pictures of the students from when it was a school
and they kept some of the original fixtures, like very low-to-the-ground water fountains for little kids.
For breakfast, we went back to the outdoor seating area at the Courtyard Restaurant and then packed up the Mazda and cruised back up to Seattle.
It was so fun! It would be a perfect place to go with a group of friends. I hope we can go back sometime soon!
