LA Ink

I just started watching LA Ink a few days ago on OnDemand and I LOVE it!

I know it's been on for a few seasons, but it was one of those shows that I thought I might want to watch and then forgot about. But when I saw that Kat Von D had a make-up line at Sephora, I became more interested.

Kat seems really down to earth and kind of reminds me of Cher. I think it's the deep voice. (I wonder if she can turn back ti-ome?) I like that she's a female business owner and it's cool to see her doing what she loves. I especially like that she is so interested in each person that comes in to get a tattoo. She never acts like the person shouldn't be getting a tattoo of their dog on their calf or that it's lame to get a portrait of their mother on their chest.

The other tattoo artists seem laid back and also nice to the clients and to each other. Except for Aubrey, of course. I guess she was on Rock of Love 2, which I missed. She looks like the typical ex-stripper they would have on that show. (Not that I don't love watching Bret Michaels and his, ah, potential mates.) She apparently is not an ex-stripper, but owned or managed three businesses, yadda yadda. She's super irritating and it sounds like everyone on the LA Ink forums is fed up with her, too. It seems like Kat could just fire her and be done with her annoying antics. But more surprising is why Aubrey doesn't quit. (One disgusted glare from Adrienne and I would be slinking out the door, never to return.) I guess that's reality tv for you.

All the drama aside, I enjoy watching the tattoo process and it's cool to see what people come up with and how happy they are once they are "inked". It's also fun to see what kind of outfits Kat is going to be able to pull off. She's definitely got a Runaways era Joan Jett thing going on. (Btw, I can't wait to see Kristen Stewart play Joan Jett!)

I personally don't have any tattoos. Although, I was going to get this Celtic style puma tattoo on (yep, you guessed it) my lower back when I was in college. Then I found out it would be $300. So that plan went by the wayside since I didn't actually have $300. But that was a silver lining, because not only would I now have a tramp stamp, but I also saw the same design on a sticker on the back of a car in the Navy gym parking lot in Oak Harbor a few years later. Lame.

So, I'll just be content to watch other people get tattoos and hope that Aubrey gets fired soon.
