I got the August issue of InStyle a few days ago, and in it, they had a big spread about finding jeans that flatter. (Like we haven't seen a million articles about this topic already, right?) Anyway, I dutifully read about what jeans to wear if you have big hips (obviously not skinny jeans), what jeans to wear if you have a boy shape (pretty much any damn jean you want), blah, blah, blah. And then, getting ready to turn the page to search out the list of Mandy Moore's 10 fashion commandments, my eye was drawn toward a flash of colors. (Ooooh, something colorful, something shiny!) It was a rainbow of.....bright jeans! Now, I was a lover of colored jeans in eleventh grade. I don't know what the kids were wearing in the states in 1992, but in Germany, I was sashaying around in my Levi's red jeans. I also had cream colored jeans, white jeans (so Pamela Anderson, right?) and maroon jeans. I almost bought orange jeans, but even I have limits.
So, that being said, I don't know if I'm ready to embrace colored jeans again so soon. Old Navy is shilling colored skinny jeans, but I definitely don't want any more skinny jeans. (One pair is already too much.) But even if they were straight leg, I still don't think I could bring myself to buy red jeans again. They were fun the first time, but I'm happy with a nice dark rinse denim for now. (I would gladly choose colored denim over those goddamned babydoll tops, though! Ugh. I want to look slimmer, not pregnant, thank you very much.)
Is there anything that's coming back in style that you, ah, "rocked" (as the kids say) in high school, but refuse to wear again?

I had several pairs of printed jeans in high school - floral patterns, stripes, etc. It was cool to wear them with backwards v-neck sweaters from The Limited. (This was circa 1988.)
I remember the backwards v-neck sweaters! I had patterned jeans, too - mine had a checkered pattern. I thought they were the coolest jeans ever. :-)
