Happy Belated Birthday, America!

We celebrated the fourth of July by engaging in random acts of commerce, most notably, at Ikea. It was a zoo, but we stayed focused and stuck to the list that I made (because without a list, I go all ADD and end up buying stuff we totally don't need like drinking straws and schnapps glasses). We got a shiny shiny salad bowl, napkin ring/placecard holders, lots of napkins, a snazzy baking dish, book ends (to prop up clutches and small handbags in my closet), and, last but not least, a Cyril computer armoire!! And never fear, I will do a before/after post after we (ok, after Aaron) get it put together.

So, it was a good use of a mid-week day off. We even made time for lunch in Ikea's cafeteria. I LOVE Swedish meatballs and french fries with gravy! Mmmmm, just like in Germany - or Sweden, as the case may be. (Aaron had vegetarian lasagna.)

After our action packed shopping trip, we lounged around the house and waited for the fireworks to go off. We can see the fireworks display from our deck (I think they are the WaMu fireworks over Lake Union), so we don't need to haul our lazy asses very far.

Aaron snapped some excellent photos with his fancy new camera (an Olympus E330). Here are my faves:

This one is great, too:

But this is my absolute favorite:

Hope you all had a great fourth of July, too!
