I've always had very dry cuticles. I used to be a cuticle picker, but promised myself that I could get manicures if I stopped, and that's been a pretty successful motivator (that and the fact that Aaron grabs my hands if he notices me falling back into my bad habit). Even with the manicures, though, my manicurist recently asked me how my cuticles were holding up. I told her they were cracking, even though I use lotion religiously. (And I'm sure this would be much to the chagrin of daisymayrobin and Miss K, but I have been known to have a pump bottle of lotion on my desk at work. Guilty as charged.) My manicurist said I should put on heavy hand cream and then put on cotton gloves and wear them to bed. Well, I can't even wear socks to bed (too hot and too constricting!), so gloves were out of the question. I whined to my Mom about my dilemma and she suggested Avon's Anew Ultimate Transforming Hand and Nail Cream. (Well, she didn't use the whole title of the hand cream - I mean, we weren't filming a testimonial or anything. She actually said, "Here try this lotion - Aunt Carol gave it to me and it's actually pretty nice.)
Well, thank you, Mom! Because this hand cream is excellent! I've never been a user of Avon or Mary Kay or anything like that, but this stuff is so moisturizing. It sinks into your skin pretty quickly, too. Even right after you apply it your hands aren't super slippery, so you don't end up dropping the handset to your phone or gripping your pen in an awkward fashion like you've just had brain surgery. Also, my cuticles stopped cracking after only using for a few days. Better still, it comes in a petite flip-top tube - suitable for your desk and small enough to throw in your purse. Oh, and it doesn't make you smell like a French whore OR like you just bathed in some stinky-ass fruit flavored body splash. (The Avon hand cream has a light scent, but it fades away and is not at all overpowering or offensive.)
And the cherry on top of this smoove sunday? Avon's hand cream has SPF 15, so you can protect your mitts from the sun's harmful rays.
Ahhhhh. My hands are so happy. Thanks, Mom!
