Stranger Than Fiction

Aaron and I rented "Stranger than Fiction" last night.

I have been experiencing a streak of movies that haven't clicked for me (like "Half Nelson", which had one of those endings that's not an ending, and "Casino Royale", which I was just too tired to keep watching), so I thought maybe I'd gone off movies! The horror - I know!

So, when we started watching Will Ferrell as an IRS man, I was a little apprehensive. My hairstylist had said the movie had funny parts, but wasn't a comedy, so I was prepared for more of a drama (and not a reiteration of "Old School"). And when they started playing "The Way We Get By" by Spoon, I relaxed a bit more and started to really enjoy the movie as it unfolded.

In addition to Will Ferrell, Maggie Gyllenhall, Dustin Hoffman, Emma Thompson and Queen Latifah (I love her!) are also in the movie. Together, they make a wonderful cast.

The movie is heartwarming, funny, creative and it has an ending that is a real ending. It reminded me of when Jim Carrey did "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" and you saw that he could act in a drama. Will Farrell proved that he can, too.

"Stranger Than Fiction" is thoroughly enjoyable, innovative and it makes you feel good after you watch it. I won't ruin it by telling you what happens, because I don't want to wreck the experience. Just watch it and see. You won't be disappointed.
