I was glad we did, because it was a good show and it also gave me a chance to peruse El Corazon. They have changed things a bit since Graceland switched over to El Corazon. The bar is one big room now, instead of that bar/hallway/two different rooms that it was before. There are papier mache hearts (complete with veins - not valetine-y hearts) on the wall and a row of small pictures with captions in Spanish along the bottom. The room with the stage is still totally separate from the bar and hasn't changed at all. The bathrooms are still in the middle of the space, between the bar and the performance area.
The ladies bathroom when it was Graceland was probably one of the worst bar bathrooms that I've experienced (excluding bathrooms in Europe with the hole in the floor and outlines for where you put your feet - those will always take the cake..or should I say, "Take the urinal cake"? Har har.) But now all the stalls have doors and 2 out of the 3 stalls that I visited had toilet paper. The paper towel dispenser didn't work, but it did have paper in it and there was soap in the soap dispenser! An overall positive bathroom experience.
The crowd was an ecclectic mix and there was a handful of little kids there, since it was an all ages show. (Note to hipster parents that take their children to see bands like Fu Manchu: Your children will probably grow up to be Republicans. Remember "Family Ties"? You can't make that shit up.)
Fu Manchu played a good mix of songs from their various albums. I am happy to report that they played both "Hell on Wheels" AND "King of the Road", which are my two favorites. Aaron noted that the lead singer grew his hair out from the last time we saw them, which looked a lot better than when he had it short. (But this pic is not from the show were at - it's from their website...because I only had my camera phone and it takes crappy pictures.)
It was a great show and I'm glad that we went!
