Charge It

You know how you have a battery charger for everything these days? We have a charger for my phone, Aaron's phone, the iPod, the camera, and Aaron's Nintendo DS. Not only is it a mess to have cords all over the counter, but it's hard to keep of track of where all the chargers are located.

So, Aaron decided to remedy this problem for us by creating a charging drawer in our office. It is fantastic! And here's how he did it...

First, he emptied the top two drawers in the Ikea nightstand in the office (this may qualify as an Ikea hack!).

Then he placed a power squid and all the chargers in the middle drawer.

This required a drilled hole in the bottom of the drawer to run the main power cord out to the wall outlet.

In the top drawer, he fished the charger cords through another hole that was drilled in the bottom of that drawer.

Then I was sent on a trip to Fred Meyer to find a drawer liner that was both padded and non-skid. I found some for $4.99 a roll. We cut this liner to fit the drawer and glued it down.

Lastly, we connected the items that needed some juice and commenced charging.

No more unsightly cords on the kitchen counter and no more misplaced chargers! Maybe now I will be able to keep my phone happy and charged so it won't make that weird "dong, dong, dong" sound when it's gasping its last breath of battery life.

Hey, that's pretty smart! I may have to do that one.

My compliments.

Thanks! I have to give all the credit to Aaron - it was all his idea. I was just a helper monkey. :-)
