Bean Pie?

As I was heading back up the street after my afternoon walk the other day, I ran into my buddy from the OK Corral. He was carrying two brown pies and greeted me with a, "Hey Lady, how you doin'", just as he always does. I said fine and asked him what kind of pies he had. He said, "You'll never guess!" and grinned at me as I listed off every kind of pie I could think of - pecan, pumpkin, sweet potato? He could barely contain his joy at my lack of pie knowledge and said, "Nope, they're BEAN pies!" I shook my head in disbelief. Bean pies?

He went on to explain how to make a bean pie, "First you boil the beans with some baking soda - that takes the faht out." I was trying really hard to keep a straight face at this point. "Then, once you take the faht out, you puree the beans in a food processer and add some sugar," he went on to explain the rest of the steps, but all I could think of was taking the fart out, so I was having a tough time focusing. He also informed that you can make tomato pie and white potato pie with coconut and coconut milk.

So, if sides of beef aren't your bag, it sounds like the OK Corral has lots of pie selections, as well. I might just have to go in and have some. And Lord knows I can leave my Bean-o at home.

I'm sorry, but the best part of beans is the faht. I think I'll take a pass on the ol' bean pie.
