To celebrate my rash recovery, Aaron and I went to the Wild Mountain Cafe for breakfast today. It's over on 85th and we've driven past it a million times. Our friend M was raving about it, so we finally made it over to check it out.
The building used to be a house, so when you walk up the steps, it kind of feels like you're going to a friend's house. Once inside, it's very cozy and there is a scattering of wood and tile tables with comfy wooden chairs. It's kind of got the laid back vibe of a place you might find in Portland or Bellingham.
The menu had lots of good looking choices. I wanted the cinnamon rolls, but we were too late! They were out of them. So I had blueberry coffee cake and a fruit cup. Aaron had Smoked Salmon Eggs Benedict, a fruit cup and a potato pancake and orange juice. I helped him get through his large serving by sampling his potato pancake and OJ. The pancake was awesome and had some garlic and another savory spice in it. My coffee cake was excellent, too.
I see that they have a happy hour and we saw their small bar area as we left. We got a coupon for $5 off our next dinner visit, so I think we might go back for an evening meal and a beer sometime soon.
