Aaron and I have a long history of lacking in the cable department. At the old house, we just bought the rabbit ears that you set on top of the television. It was ghetto and we watched A LOT of channel 13. I've never watched as many episodes of "The Simpsons" before or since.
After we moved into the condo, we "upgraded" to limited basic cable. So, in addition to the basic network channels, we get Discovery, QVC, and a bunch of local government channels. We also (and I don't think we're supposed to) get Bravo, HGTV and the Golf Channel. (Yeah, I watch the Golf channel ALL the time.)
Currently, pretty much all I watch is whatever is on Bravo (repeats of Shear Genius, Project Runway, Top Chef and Workout - which are all on during my dinnertime) and I still watch way too much QVC (although, I haven't purchased anything in a while.)
Sadly, there are many shows that we don't get due to our inferior cable package. No "Ice Road Truckers", no American or British "What Not to Wear", no Travel Channel, no VH1, MTV, or MTV2, no Animal Planet, and no BBC America. Aaron and I recently had a heart- to-heart about this situation. After much deliberation and encouragement from friends and family, we have decided to invest in our future and...(drumroll, please), bump up to the premium fantastico expanded cable package with the monthly DVR usage!
I'm excited about this development, but somewhat concerned at the same time. I freaking love to watch tv and I hope that with the plethora of options that we will soon have, that I will still be able to continue gainful employment and maintain my daily hygiene standards and that my ass doesn't fuse to the couch fabric from lack of movement. (It could happen. Thank you to Moxie P'toxy for alerting me to this thought provoking story.)

Congrats on finally getting cable. Now you can really burn time by watching The Two Coreys and Rock of Luv.
I know! I'm so excited! I watched that show "Hurl" on the G4 channel yesterday and today I watched "Plastic Surgery Junkies" on BBC America. It's a whole new world. :-)
