I started using Avon's Anew Clinical Advanced Retexturizing Peel yesterday. I read about it in Allure magazine and the person that tested it had positive results. It is supposed to smooth your skin, decrease breakouts, reduce pore size and just basically make your skin glow. It is recommended that you use it every other day. You can use it morning or night. I used it in the evening yesterday, because I was so excited to try it. I think going forward, I will use it in the morning.
"But, Kittykat, what about the Retin-A that you already use? Won't the combination make your skin fall off?" You might be wondering to yourself. Well, not to worry, because the dermatologist in the article said that the tester's skin surface would be further smoothed by the added use of retinoids. I already have .05% Retin-A, which I will continue to use in the evening. (Which is why I will do the peel in the morning. Obviously.)
So, how's it going so far? You apply it all over your face with a pre-moistened pad (kind of reminiscent of Stridex, but slightly posher) after you wash your face. It doesn't have any type of offensive smell and it feels somewhat refreshing. Right after I used it, my skin tingled for about 10 minutes, but not in an uncomfortable or painful way. My skin even appeared brighter right after the first use!
Today, I put on my make-up as normal, but by lunchtime, I noticed a tiny bit of peeling on my chin. I quickly rubbed off the peely part with a clean cotton square and some water and then applied moisturizer and some face powder. Voila. Problem solved. Other than that, I have not had any adverse reactions so far.
I will continue to use it as directed for the next month. I am hoping to retexture my chin area, which constantly plagues me with zits. I hope to sand down a couple layers of dermis to reveal fresh, new unblemished skin. I will be sure to fill you in on my trial. Hopefully I will not hit bone. Do stay tuned.
