T3 vs. Conair

I received my T3 hairdryer package in the mail last week.

As I opened the box, I thought about how my life was about to change. I prepared myself for the long, lustrous hair that was often featured in rock videos of yore. I hoped my hair might reach the pinnacle of volume and windblown sexiness that Tawny Kitaen achieved in this Whitesnake video, but with more smoothness and less writhing around on the hoods of cars.

Coming up with a gameplan, I decided to do some tests: amount of time to dry, shine quotient and agility/weight of dryer. Here's what I found...

It took me five minutes to dry my hair with the T3, but it took me 6 minutes to dry my hair with the Conair. So the T3 wins by a smidge. The T3 made my hair slightly shinier than the Conair, but it also made it flatter, like when I flat iron it. Lastly, the ease of use of the T3 was slightly worse than the Conair. I had read that the control switches on the T3 were easy to accidentally turn off while in use, and this is true. I had a hard time with that. Also, this is suprising, but the T3 Featherweight was actually slightly heavier than the Conair when put to the test in my non-scientific weight measure of holding one dryer in my left hand and the other in my right hand.

So who wins the battle of the hairdryers? It's the Conair. I can't justify spending $200 on a hairdryer (and, yes, I did get a brush, some product and a diffuser, but in reality, I don't need any of that crap) that is just going to dry my hair a bit quicker and make it only slightly more shiny.

I am sad to report that I have packaged up my T3 and all its accessories and plan to ship it back to QVC next Saturday. What will I spend the refund money on, you ask? Well, it will be spent on a repairman for the dishwasher, because we discovered that the timer issue is not totally fixed. Sigh.

In brighter news, I am happy to report that the Costco in Shoreline had cases of Junior Mints to support my pack-a-day candy habit...
