The evening started out with us decorating our friend's house.
That got me in a festive mood, because I was burnt out from the workday. So a few streamers and balloons later, and I was feeling ready for some action. After the decorating was done, I went home and Aaron and I got ready in our costumes. As I said in my last posted, Aaron did the Ducky costume and totally nailed it. My outfit was puffy, purple and shiny, and so was my hair. (Well, my hair wasn't purple, but I did have a lovely purple velvet bow clip to accent my overly curled hair...although I never did track down a crimper. Ah, well.)
At the party, everyone else was dressed in awful 80s prom attire, which made things all the more amusing. Even Jesus got dressed up for the occasion.

We also had a wall of shame, where everyone put up pictures from actual proms that they attended.
Aaron played lots of great tunes and we danced and drank and it was midnight before I knew it. We also took tons of pictures to commemorate the evening (I have a few on my myspace page, if you care to peruse that.)And things were rolling along smoothly until I went to hug a friend goodbye. I heard a loud shredding sound and felt my dress suddenly loosen. Oopsy daisy! The velvet on the bodice of the dress had ripped away from the zipper!
The horror! Thankfully, it was late in the evening and not super noticable, so I just made sure to tread lightly for the rest of the evening and not make any sweeping gestures that I might regret. (Whoa, look at the fireworks! Whoops! There goes the rest of that zipper!)Overall, it was an excellent way to ring in the new year and I hope we can do something in the same vein next year! (Becaue I've got my eye on a pink gorilla suit at Red Light and I need a place to wear it. How about a costume party for Furries?)
