The cottages are really close to the beach. You just walk down a wooded path to get there. Along the path, we saw some smurfy mushrooms. (No, I didn't sample any.)
The beach itself is just gorgeous.
The water was beautiful, too.
I did a bit of searching for sand dollars, but only saw this half dollar.
D brought a couple kites, which flew like crazy in all the wind at the beach.
Aaron suggested that I give it a try, so I took the reigns. The kite had two handles, that, when pulled, make the kite do loops. I tried to zig and zag, but just as Aaron was telling me that the kite strings are sentitive, I dive bombed Miss K with the kite. I thought we might have a trip to the emergency room in our future, but she was ok. Thank goodness! The thing about the beach in Long Beach that I find a bit odd is that you can drive right on the sand. We didn't, but many other people did (although, full discolsure, we did a couple years ago and it was fun, but strange and guilt inducing, because that just can't be good for the environment).
After the beach, we carved some pumpkins for Halloween. Three of them are currently decorating our deck!
It was a great weekend and I hope we can all do it again sometime!
