Texas

I'm going to Texas over Thanksgiving with my Mom to see my brother and his girlfriend. My brother turns 30 this year! Whoa! His birthday is on December first, but since we have time off for turkey day, we're going that weekend instead. So it will be birthday/Thanksgiving/Christmas all together. I guess that would be Birthankmas? Or maybe Chrisdaythanks?

At any rate, we haven't been down to the Lonestar state since 2003! I didn't have this here blog back then, so I'll share some photos from that trip with you now.

We went to the Alamo, of course.

It was neat to see, but it's right in the center of town! I imagined it to be in the middle of a desert or something.

The Alamo was all decked our for Christmas and sported this cool cactus wreath.

Another popular tourist attraction in San Antonio is the Riverwalk.

We took a boat ride along the river and it was quite pretty!

We also went to a market (or "Mercado" if you hablo the Espanol) and perused all the wares. My Mom and I bought some Mexican vanilla. (I still have it! It was a big bottle.) There was a gorgeous mural outside the market.

While we were downtown, we checked out a bar (shocking!) that had this enormous steer head on the outside of the building.

At the same bar, I snapped a picture of a sign for Lone Star beer. (What a cute armadillo!)

Although, I hear Shiner Bock is what all the locals drink. (But I know my brother fancies PBR...so I'll fit right in.)

I'm not sure exactly what we'll be doing for our upcoming visit. I'm thinking maybe a visit to these ginormous cowboy boots is in order?
