Swim

While we were on the cruise, we went swimming a few times in the pool. It was pretty damn breezy, but once we got in the water and acclimated to the temperature, it wasn't bad at all. There were hot tubs, too, so that was a nice reward after logging a few laps.

The bathing suit that I wore is the same one that I always wear. I actually borrow it from my Mom, because I haven't been able to muster up the energy to go swimsuit shopping. It's a Miracle suit and it has a flower pattern on it (and, no, I'm not going to show you a picture of me in it...sorry, Charlie). It provides a lot of support and even has underwire. However, it's not super great for swimming laps because it's kind of low in the front and I am in a constant state of panic that "the girls" might make a surprise escape. (This panic was underscored when we went to Florida and my little niece exclaimed to me, "Cover your boobs!!" Trust me, they were covered, so don't send me to Child Protection Services. There was just a bit of, ah, cleavage.)

Anyway, I decided it was high time to buy a suit of my own. I used to swim competitively in high school (I wasn't fast or anything, but I could swim for a long time - three miles being the longest I ever swam at once) and we had really streamlined suits that covered everything and never threatened to flip off when you jumped in the pool. This was the type of suit that I was searching for when I went to Big 5 Sporting Goods this past Saturday. And, after a bit of sweating and swearing, I found a suitable suit. It's a Speedo (no, not that kind of Speedo) and it's black. It's not the kind of suit you'd rock on Spring Break in Ibiza, but that's not really the scene at the Ballard Pool during Lap Swim.

So it will be perfect for my purposes.

Now, if I can just keep my hair from turning colors from the chlorine, I'll be golden (and not green).
