Our ship was the Norweigan Pearl. It was built in Germany in December of 2006, so it was pretty new. Here's a picture of it docked in Juneau:
Let's zoom in, shall we?
Our room was on the fifth deck and had a queen size bed, a bathroom and a window. (Some rooms don't have windows - can you say claustrophobia?)
The ship had lots of amenities like restaurants, shops, a spa, a gym, a swimming pool and hot tubs,
a bowling alley with four lanes,
and lots of bars! One of the best decorated bars (the Spinnaker Lounge) had really mod furniture that I coveted.
The wall art in the ship was actually kind of cool, too. My favorite was this owl painting, which was in the hallway right outside our room.
Our first port-of-call was Juneau, and even though the ship was very posh, I was glad to be on solid land for a bit. It took me a while to get my "sea legs" (and it's also taking me a while to shake the sea legs - I'm still listing back and forth like a drunken sailor - I hope my equilibrium comes back soon). So check back tomorrow for the scoop on Juneau (and tons more pictures, too!).

I'm amazed at how hip the furniture is in the Spinnaker Lounge. Definitely NOT what I pictured a cruise to Alaska looking like!
I know! I was shocked, too! We took a ton more pics of the bars, so we can show you guys more shots. They had another bar (Bliss Lounge) that had full size beds in the bar - it was crazy!
