Tram I Am

Our first port-of-call was Juneau, AK. They just pulled the ship into the harbor, let down the gangplank, and we all trucked out, eager to get out and see Alaska.

You can book excursions through the cruise line, so we booked a ride on this tram.

Here it is a little closer (I took about 25 pics of the tram):

When our tram came, we all got on and it was up, up and away! The tram allowed a scenic vista of the harbor and we went up so high that my ears popped.

At the top of the tram was a visitors' center and a gift shop.

Outside, was a short trail. So we followed it and took a short hike, but we didn't feed the squirrels, as directed on this sign.

On our hike, we saw this cool totem carved into a tree,

We also saw signs that warned we were in bear country, but we didn't see any bears.

We did get to see a beautiful view of Juneau.

After our hike, we took the tram back down and poked around the downtown area, looked at a few t-shirt shops and ended up at a bar. After a few refreshing alcoholic beverages, we headed back to the ship for dinner, ready to cruise to our next destination: Skagway.
