Oliver's Twist

I read a Happy Hour review of the bar/restaurant Oliver's Twist in the Seattle Weekly a few weeks ago. It's right up the street and I am always happy to try someplace new in the neighborhood, so Aaron and I went there last Saturday to give it a go.

It is decorated in mostly browns and oranges, which made it feel warm and inviting. We scored a table by the window. The bench seating by the window is cushiony, and as an added bonus, they have throw pillows! The decor is very modern with a few vintage pieces (an ice bucket and some knick nacks) near the bar. One of the best things about Oliver's Twist is the ladies' bathroom. It's very dim, but stylishly decorated and they provided a spritzer of Lemon Mate air freshener, which smells like freshly squeezed lemons.

The specialty drinks were not to my liking, however. I had the Artful Dodger, but it tasted like orangey medicine to me. Aaron had the the Cable Car, but it was a bit too whiskey/scotch/bourbon tasting to me. However, their vodka tonics were lovely with a twist of lime. And all the drinks were veeeerrrrrrry strong.

The odd thing was that when I asked our server about the happy hour, she said they didn't have one. I mentioned that I had seen the write-up in the Seattle Weekly, but she hadn't heard about it. She said they're still working things out and have only been open a month and a half. Hmmm. I added myself to their mailing list, so I will keep you abreast of developments as they occur...
