Aaron and I decided that staying home all day on Sunday was making us feel like we were under house arrest. So we went out to dinner at one of the many fine dining establishments in our new-ish hood.We chose the Pig n' Whistle for a change of pace. I had walked past it on numerous occasions, and it appeared promising. Upon closer inspection, it looked like your basic pub-like restaurant. They had tables and booths (there are some nice tables that line the windows, but we didn't score one of those) and a long bar with a variety of booze along the left side of the restaurant. (So you can get a cocktail, if you are so inclined.)
The atmosphere was casual and laid back. The main drawback was that there was no air conditioning, but on an average day, I'm sure that wouldn't matter. Our server was efficient, though not particularly jocular. The music was bluesy, which isn't my favorite, but it wasn't so loud, so it mostly faded into the background.
The main draw for me turned out to be the food. I ordered a Classic Hamburger with Pig Tail Fries (read: seasoned curly fries - my favorite) and Aaron ordered a Fish Burrito with rice. It was all fabulous! I am going to eat the leftovers tonight and I can hardly wait.
We'll definitely keep the Pig n' Whistle in mind next time we have a hankering for some pub grub.
