Meatloaf (The Dish, Not The Singer)

I went out to dinner with my Mom over the weekend and we visited a restaurant up north called The Saw Mill. It's decorated with whimsical light fixtures shaped like trees and pictures of men and women doing outdoorsy things like log-rolling and wearing wool plaid shirts. They play 40s music and have a whole dessert case filled with pie. It's kind of like the diner on "Twin Peaks", minus the creepy Log Lady (although she would fit in with the woodsy theme), plus some saws. (That sounds creepy, too, but they're old timey saws, not chainsaw massacre type saws.)

The menu offers a large assortment of options, like sandwiches, soup, hamburgers and salads. However, they also have a list of "full dinner" choices like "Open-faced Turkey Sandwich" and "Liver and Onions". Among this full dinner fare, I saw "Meatloaf and Mashed Potatoes". I ordered it and it was fantastic, honey! I have to admit that it was the first time I had ever had meatloaf, but it won't be the last.

Sometimes a girl just wants some down home cookin'. So I will be visiting the Saw Mill again real soon.

And P.S., their cherry pie is pretty tasty, too. (Insert clip of Warrant's "Cherry Pie" here. You know you already did.)
