In last week's episode of Scrubs (which isn't on this week - thanks for nothing, Winter Olympics), JD was dating a new girlfriend (played my Mandy Moore, who I like since I saw her in "Saved"). In one scene, he asks her if she ever imagines things happening during the day. She says yes, and envisions popping the waitress' balloon boobs with a fork. I love Scrubs. I, too, daydream from time to time (usually in the form of a montage from a hard rock video for some reason). Most recently, I was trying to play "Thunderstruck" on my bass (which is really hard and I think the tabs might be wrong) and I was picturing myself at Fort Worden at the wedding. The beginning of "Thunderstruck" is playing in the background. (ahhaahhaaa...you know how it goes.) Just as the opening drums kick in, I am catapulted from the bunker on the hill where we're holding the ceremony. At the exact moment that I shoot up from the bunker, the pyrotechnician lights the fireworks to blast in a spray of light on either side of me, just like in the Bon Jovi video for "Living on a Prayer". As I walk down the aisle, I am playing the guitar solo (cordless, like in the crazy and wonderful play "Tropicana" that we saw on London) and then the aisle raises up to become a stage and the guests are all wearing tube tops and Slayer t-shirts and are waving lighters even though there's a smoking ban in effect (but it's an indoor smoking ban, and by George, we're outside). When I get to the altar, Aaron is standing there dressed as Angus from the "Highway to Hell" album, complete with the devil horns, just like his Halloween costume from a few years ago.
Then, "Thunderstruck" ends, and I am snapped back to reality, where I don't actually know how to play guitar, and I realize that fireworks blowing off on the dry grass of the bluff where we're having the ceremony could seriously end up in a brush fire, and the final death knell comes when Aaron vetoes the playing of any AC/DC song as we're walking down the aisle. But never fear, kids, there's always the first dance...
