Aaron and I went to The Original House of Pancakes on Saturday. It's on 15th, so you have to pass by the LoveZone, the liquor store and the Biomat Plasma donating center (Make $130 in 4 easy visits!). But, it's worth it. Their pancakes melt in your mouth, the bacon is smoky and bacon-y, and the eggs are perfectly over medium. They have wonderfully strong coffee, but the roast they use doesn't make the coffee taste burnt. And if you order iced tea, they bring you a whole pitcher! The atmosphere is "gemuetlich" (that means comfortably inviting, if you don't spreche the Deutsch) and reminds me of a Bavarian ski lodge.
My favorite part of eating there is my newly developed butter/syrup delivery system. I get two ramekins of whipped butter. Then I transfer all the butter to one ramekin. Then I pour the syrup into the other ramekin (the residual butter mixes with the syrup to make it even richer). With each bite of pancake, I do a double dip of butter and syrup, then chew, enjoy and repeat. It's pure heaven.
