Give Me Back My Mix Tape

Aaron and I gave our friend Beau the new Thurston Moore book called "Mix Tape" for his birthday. It looks pretty cool and it got us talking about mix tapes. I thought it would be neat to find old mix tapes from friends and then re-create the mixes onto CD and then give them back to the original friend.

So, last night I dug around in my old box of tapes (I also found some old pictures - man, I used to look like a goddamn hair farmer in college!). I found some tapes that I had made and some from an ex-boyfriend from high school (lots of Pink Floyd and the Police on that one). Then I found two wonderful mix tapes that my friend Erika made me. She found obscure songs by bands that I've never heard of...like "Tricia Toyota" by the Dickies, "Razorblades and Lemondade" by Television Personalities and the "Bumblebee Tuna Song" by Mephiskapheles. The sad part is that I can't find the actual tapes, just the cases. I'll have to keep searching.

I guess we've got i-Pods now to make playlists, but there's nothing like getting a mix tape from a good friend.
