Slideshow

Aaron and I are thinking of doing a photo slideshow at the wedding. I corralled him on Friday and plied him with drinks so that we could do some wedding planning. It was a very successful strategy, thank you very much.

We wanted to start the photo segment with baby pictures and childhood photos of each of us. Then the pictures would transition to current pictures of us with family and friends. After that it would go into pictures of people that we would like to have at the wedding, but can't because they've passed away. I don't know what we'd end it with. Maybe computer enhanced pictures of what Aaron and I would look like when we're old? I'll have to check with him about that.

Anyway, the photo discussion led to us breaking out our old photo albums. Aaron's Mom recently entrusted him with the photo albums of him when he was little. She said that he is "settled" enough now, so he gets to have them. There are about three albums. I have seen them before, but was happy to sit down and look at them all again.

I, on the other hand, ended up with all the family photo albums from my childhood. My Dad lives overseas and my Mom isn't really a picture person. So when we got the photo albums out of my Dad's storage, I made sure to commandeer ownership of them. There are about twenty volumes.

I asked Aaron which volume he wanted to start with after we looked at his albums. He responded by curling into the fetal position on the couch, and replied weakly, "Can we start somewhere in the middle?"

I grabbed volume eleven and began flipping through it. There are tons of pictures of me swimming, playing at the cabin on Whidbey Island with my brother and generally hamming it up for the camera. There are also a smattering of photos of me looking rather pissed off, or "overly tired", as my Mom would say. I was a mostly happy kid, but had moments like any child, where I was just mad. There was one where it looks like it was Christmas and I think I had a cold, because my nose is all red. I am glowering at whoever is taking my picture. When we got to that photo, Aaron said, "Oh, I know that face." Ok, I admit, I have a temper, but I am mostly laid back. Really!

Aaron was a cute kid and looked like he was just as easy going then as he is now. Although there is one album that has a picture of him having a tantrum. His Mom told me that they had a photographer come over and take a series of photos. Aaron was good for most of the photos (he looks pretty cute - he's wearing a turtleneck, a sweater vest and little chinos). I guess he got tired toward the end, though, because there is one where he is having a fit and crying. I definitely want to include that in the slideshow.

After looking at about four or five of my albums, Aaron was tapped out, so we called it a night. I didn't want to torture him anymore because I need him in top condition for when we start visiting possible wedding sites.
