Aaron and I started watching "Entourage" last night. First of all, let me say that Vince's hotness rivals Sawyer's from "Lost". Oh, my. However, the show itself was confusing to me at first. I kept asking Aaron, "So all those guys just live with Adrian Grenier's character? They just tell him he's great and they get to live with him?" Aaron said, "Yes, they're his entourage." Very odd. I finally cracked it when I asked, "So, they're like those guys that hang out with Tracy Jordan on '30 Rock' and let him win at video games?" Bingo.
Once I had the premise of the show sussed out, I was able to enjoy it a bit more. I especially like Jeremy Piven's character's sheer asshole-ness. I've loved him since he was on "Ellen", so it's great to see him a new show. (Well, new to me.)
All the while, though, I kept thinking, "Man, this show would be better it if it was four girls that went to fancy parties and got laid all the time instead of four guys." (Oh, wait. They did make a show like that....it was called "Sex and the City".)
We've got a whole DVD of shows from season one of "Entourage", so I'll have to watch a few more episodes to decide if I truly like it. At a minimum, I know I will enjoy the, ah, scenery.

Ah, KittyKat. What if I upped the ante and told you the entire show is based on the real life rise-to-stardom of Mark Wahlberg? Mark Wahlberg created and produces the show.
Vincent Chase is basically Mark Wahlberg, and Johnny Chase (Kevin Dillon) represents Donny Wahlberg... the once big star in NKOTB (on Entourage, he was once a big star in a tv show named VisionQuest), but now he's washed up and is better known for being related to his hotter, younger brother, Mark Wahlberg/Vincent Chase. (Which is double funny since in real life, he has to deal with his hotter and more popular brother, Matt Dillon.)
Eric and Turtle are two friends that moved from Boston/Queens to be with Mark/Vince, and work for him while they're also his entourage. Eric manages his career, and Turtle is his driver. (I guess Mark Wahlberg had his sctual, old-school entourage on the Ellen Degeneres show a few months ago.)
Whew! Anyway, there's some insight. And, yes, could Adrian Grenier be any hotter, and could Jeremy Piven be any funnier?
That does clarify things a lot! Thanks! I noticed the Marky Mark was the producer, so that is very interesting that the show is based on his rise to stardom.
I was thinking about Kevin Dillon being Matt Dillon's brother. That is a double entrendre there with his character being Vince's brother.
All that background info helps, too! I get it more now about each of their roles. I thought they were just good friends at first, but that makes more sense that they are actually doing work for Vince.
I'm excited to watch more of the episodes now! :-)
