Buns

As you know, lots of things drive me crazy. And when it comes to hair, the hairstyle that I cannot stand is the "messy bun". You know, when girls kind of half pull their hair through an elastic and it's almost a ponytail, but then it's not pulled through, so it's kind of a bun. It looks like they lost interest in styling their hair part way through the styling process.

The messy bun is especially offensive when a scrunchie is used. (I admit, I have used scrunchies in the past, but Jesus, man, that was in 1989, when I had big bangs and my friends had spiral perms.)

If people want to have long lustrous hair, then go for it (I certainly couldn't get to that length), but by God, take care of it and don't employ the messy bun look when you put your hair up. Just put it in a real bun or a real pony tail. (And, oh, by the way, are you clipping hair clips to the strap of your bag in preparation for putting your hair in a messy bun? That is not acceptable either. Just put the clip IN the bag. There. That wasn't so hard, was it?)

Thank you for this consideration. I have to go breathe deeply now so that the veins in my forehead will stop popping out.

How funny, because I actually prefer the messy bun/ponytail over the finished bun/ponytail!

I have always been jealous of women with long hair and a little bit of artsy-bohemian in them, that while they are talking to me, they can twist their hair up, throw some chopsticks in it, and be done.

Now don't even get me started on the ponytail that is put through the back part of a baseball cap, though!

I must be turning into my Grandma! She used to pull my Mom's hair into tight braids when she was little and slick down fly-aways with bar soap.

Next thing you know, I'll be eating liver and onions and calling our 45-year-old neighbors "the 'kids' down the street"!
