Anita's Crepes

After a hearty happy hour at Ivar's a couple Saturdays ago, I was in the mood for some dessert. So, it was serendipity that we drove past Anita's Crepes just when I was craving something sweet.

I had noticed Anita's a few months ago and had been meaning to check it out for a while. I had no idea what to expect. Aaron and I both thought it was just a little cafe type place and that we would just pop in and order from the front counter, like at a bakery.

We were wrong! It's a very nice sit down restaurant with table service. The space is warm and inviting. It actually made me feel like I was in Europe. It just had a classy and sophisticated vibe.

It's quite small with an open kitchen, so you can see Anita making the crepes as soon as you walk in. And the smell from the crepes cooking was heavenly!

We ordered off the dessert crepe menu.

I ordered a Nutella et Banane Crepe (I got mine without banana) and Aaron got the Citron Crepe.

They also have Caffe Vita coffee, so I got a cup of coffee to go with my crepe.

I thought the crepe was alright, but not excellent. It could have been warmer and I thought the batter seemed a bit flat, like it needed more butter or salt or something. Aaron thought his crepe was alright, too, but he felt it was too sweet and didn't have enough lemon flavor.

However, I liked the atmosphere so much that I would like to go back and try their dinner offerings. (They also have a variety of wine and other "adult beverages" - as Bret Michaels always says - which surprised me. I thought they'd just have coffee/tea and that sort of thing.)

It seemed like a great place to go with a girlfriend and catch up over a few a drinks and a savory crepe. I may have to plan a ladies' night sometime soon!
